Chocolate Chip & Peanut Butter Brownies

After a rather lengthy break from blogging, we are finally back!

I actually made these yummy chocolate brownies way back in November last year when my sister Katie, aka Auntie Grubs, had a firework party for Guy Fawkes night.  There was much Oooohing and Ahhhhing over both fireworks and brownies! They went down a treat and received lots of compliments so I was really excited to write up my post, however…

Halloween Butternut Squash and Carrot Soup

I’m not sure that Oscar is especially pleased about the prospect of Halloween coming around again.  Despite loving his pumpkin, he really didn’t think much of the trick or treaters last year and for the following week would run away to hide when ever there was a knock at the door! This year he is greeting the festivities with caution and if anyone mentions the word ‘spooky,’ he’s off to hide!

He is however looking forward to shopping for his pumpkin, which we will do at Priory Farm with Gran on Wednesday  – they have a big barn full of pumpkins to choose from, so I have no doubt we will be coming home with the biggest!

White Chocolate Frozen Yoghurt

Time flies when you are having fun and it’s absolutely true, because amazingly Nick and I have now been married for ten whole years!

It really has been that long since we walked out of the church into beautiful sunshine (having spent the morning looking out at sheeting rain) and now we are looking forward to the next ten years.

Fantastic Fish Pie

We have an amazing fishmonger about ten minutes from our home; Oscar loves it because it has a huge glass tank full of lobster and crab and the fishing boats moor up right outside.

Last weekend Nick and Oscar went on a mission to find our lunch.  I knew they would have a great time and get totally over excited.  I was right and they returned with a HUGE carrier bag bursting with fresh fish - salmon, haddock, prawns, scallops and all sorts of other goodies!

Fish pie was the obvious choice.  It is a real favourite of ours and perfect to give Oscar's Granny Margie, who was coming for lunch on Sunday.

Lemon Curd Cupcakes

We recently celebrated my little nephew Ralph’s Christening and I’m very proud to say that my Godmother status is now official!  Yay!

We had such a lovely day with family and friends and, most importantly for Oscar, a bouncy castle!

I had a complete disaster with presents. Both of them were ordered on-line and neither of them arrived in time. A dreadful way to begin my Godmotherly responsibilities! Thankfully though Ralph is only 15 months old so couldn’t have cared less but felt terrible and needed to redeem myself somehow.  So I did what I know I can do… I made cupcakes….loads of them (with a little help from Oscar)!  I was still icing the last batch at 11pm on Saturday night but managed to deliver these lemon curd cupcakes just in time on Sunday morning.  Phew!
